Good evening, Piedmont families-
First, I want to say thank you for a great week of testing! Our students did a great job of following their individual schedules and participating in their end-of-semester exams. While I do not have all the results back yet, I anticipate some positive growth from our students and teachers. On Tuesday, January 20th, we will begin our 2nd-semester. It will be a fresh beginning for all students and an opportunity for continued success. Please continue to stress the importance of daily attendance to your students.
NO SCHOOL MONDAY, JANUARY 19TH- All UCPS Schools will be closed on January 19th in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday. We will return to a normal schedule on January 20th.
2nd SEMESTER STUDENT SCHEDULES: All students will report directly to Homeroom on Tuesday, January 20th, to receive the most up-to-date student schedule. We ask all students to follow their printed schedule unless they are provided an updated schedule by a School Counselor.
SCHEDULE CHANGES/CORRECTIONS: The Schedule Correction link will re-open on the first day of the 2nd semester (1/20/26) and will remain open for the first five days. Our counselors are currently working to correct any previous schedule correction requests. Schedule change requests will only be reviewed once submitted through the schedule change form that will be posted under Quick Links and in the order in which they are received. Schedule change requests will not be reviewed by email, phone, or in person to be fair to all students.
PASS/FAIL COURSE OPPORTUNITY: Pass/Fail forms are available for students each day in the cafeteria. Forms must be submitted to the counseling office by Monday, February 2, 2026. Students are eligible to take one course per year as a pass/fail. Graduation requirement courses cannot be taken pass/fail. For any questions about pass/fail, please see your counselor or an administrator.
JROTC NEW PARENT MEETING: JROTC will be hosting a New Cadet Parent meeting on Wednesday at 5:30 pm in the JROTC Classroom (F4). The parents of our new cadets or any parents interested in learning about JROTC are welcome to attend. Contact Maj Richardson at chadrick.richardson@ucps.k12.nc.us for information.

We expect our student to park in their designated lot and numbered spot. Students need to display their tag facing out on their rear-view mirror every day. Once students park, they are expected to leave their vehicles and come directly into the school building. Students are not permitted to hang out in their car for an extended period of time. If you have any parking questions, please get in touch with Assistant Principal Tiphany Speck (tiphany.speck@ucps.k12.nc.us) or call 704-296-3170.

ONLY parents are permitted to set up an absence reporting account, and the email used MUST match the parent's email on record with the school, or the account will be deleted along with any absences reported. Please be sure that you are using the email account that we send our weekly Connect Ed message to each week.
